Acid fly – Fan art from a book called the Wandering Inn

I recently had the chance to create some fan art inspired by The Wandering Inn, a book series that’s captured my imagination. One of the standout moments for me is when the main character, Erin, uses an acid fly jar as an improvised hand grenade. It’s a quirky yet intense tool that plays a crucial role in her defense, and the backstory of how it came to be is both fascinating and hilarious.

For this project, I combined several tools to bring the acid fly jar to life. Blender handled the 3D modeling, giving me the flexibility to shape the jar and flies. Substance Painter helped me add detailed textures and realistic weathering to the jar’s surface. Photoshop came in handy for refining textures, while After Effects gave the final touch with some compositing magic to enhance the presentation.

This piece was not only a tribute to the series but also a way to challenge my skills across multiple platforms. I hope it captures the humor and ingenuity that Erin embodies in the story. Let me know what you think, especially if you’re a fellow fan of The Wandering Inn!
